Structural glazing is a way of fixing glass panels to a building's frame without visible metal joints on the outside — the glass is bonded to the frame with a strong structural silicone instead of regular aluminium clips. From the street, it looks like a smooth, all-glass surface.
It's mostly used on office facades and large commercial fronts where the client wants a clean, modern look without the grid pattern of regular window frames. Since there's less visible metal, it also lets in more natural light and gives the building a more premium appearance.
The trade-off is that structural glazing needs more careful installation and regular inspection of the silicone seals, since that's what's holding the glass in place. Done properly, though, it holds up well against wind load and weather, and is a standard technique used on modern commercial buildings.
